The New Albany Animal Shelter will be closed Friday, July 3rd, 2026 and Saturday, July 4th 2026 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

We will resume normal business hours Monday July 6th, 2026.

🚨 If you have an animal emergency during our closure, please contact your local non-emergency dispatch number. They will be able to assist you or direct you to the appropriate resources.

We’re excited to once again partner with BISSELL Pet Foundation for the Empty the Shelters national adoption event!

Join us July 5th through July 26th as we work to find loving homes for the wonderful dogs and cats in our care. Every adoption gives a deserving animal a fresh start while creating space for us to help even more pets in need.

Whether you’re looking for a playful kitten, a laid-back senior, an energetic dog, or a cuddly companion, we have a variety of amazing animals waiting to meet you.

We encourage everyone to stop by the shelter during the event, meet our adoptable pets, and consider opening your heart and home to a shelter animal. Even if you’re not ready to adopt, sharing this event with your friends and family helps our animals find the loving homes they deserve.
