NAFC Animal Control & Shelter Adopts “Operation P.E.A.C.E.” Resolution

The New Albany Floyd Co Animal Control & Shelter presented a resolution to Mayor, Doug England and the New Albany City Council, on November 18th 2010, that passed collectively. The new mission statement for the shelter is, “Operation P.E.A.C.E”  (Placing Every Adoptable Creature Encountered).

The resolution, “Operation P.E.A.C.E.”, exemplifies the commitment of the NAFC Animal Shelter to both the well-being of homeless animals in this community and the safety of its residents. While “No-Kill” is a term that is sometimes misleading and is difficult for a government facility to embrace due to their obligation to protect and serve the community first, Operation P.E.A.C.E. offers a unique compassionate alternative.

“Operation P.E.A.C.E.” (Placing Every Adoptable Creature Encountered) reiterates the NAFC Animal Shelter’s promise that once an animal has met the shelter’s criteria for adoptability, all resources will be used to maintain the animal’s health and behavior until its placement in a forever home. No adoptable animal will be euthanized solely due to space.
