Preparing for the New Baby
Your four-legged sidekick has probably figured out that something’s up. Follow our countdown to D-day and the transition will come with fewer barks (oops, we mean bumps) in the road. For many couples, a dog is their first “baby.” And chances are, your hound knows he is! Your canine will still be a cherished part of the clan when your son or daughter arrives on the scene, but your routines will shift, and that can befuddle your furry friend.
We need your HELP!
We have a strange request…. WE NEED YOUR HELP! We use the cardboard boxes that beer cases are moved in for litter boxes at the shelter. The use of these boxes helps defray the costs of caring for cats in the shelter and the spread of disease. Now, when our population is at its highest, we cannot get the boxes we need in adequate quantities. The auction houses also use the boxes and are leaving us in a situation where we cannot care for the cats in the facility. IF you go to a liquor store, grocery store, pet store, etc. and see these type of boxes grab them for us!! The boxes are about 11″ x 17″ and used for beer cases and canned foods!

Meet the Birds:
Many people come to the Shelter and inquire about some of the animals that we have in the front lobby and around the building. These are our resident animals, and are not available for adoption. In the next several newsletters, we will introduce you to them, and explain why they are so important to us!
Meet the birds- above our communal cat cage in the front lobby, there are two cages of finches. Sonny and Cher are the two society finches, and Peanut Butter is the white finch. We also have a cockatiel named Pato who resides in the lobby as well.
Do I Need Pet Insurance?
Some may not be aware that pet insurance exist, but it does and its saving families a lot of money.
Many pet insurance policies protects pets in case of accidents or illnesses. But pet insurance doesn’t have to be just for the unexpected! Because wellness care is so important to keep your pet happy and healthy, many insurance companies have two or more options for this care, which may includes vaccinations and check-ups, preventative medications.
