How to Adopt a Mill Rescue

Posted by: | Posted on: June 9, 2009

We know that many of you are hoping to adopt a mill rescue dog. The first few dogs should be available for adoption on Friday, with their photos, breeds, etc. being released on Thursday after 4pm. Remember, you cannot get preapproved, and the dogs will be available on a first come-first serve basis. Our adoption hours are from 12-4, and we will start showing interested adopters  at that time. If you choose to come early and get in line, numbers will be issued when the doors open at 12.

In addition to our regular qualifications for adoption, adopters interested in the mill dogs will have to meet the following criteria:

1) References are required

2) Proof of residence will be required for all adopters. Renters will be required to show a lease allowing pets, along with a paid pet deposit if needed in lease. Homeowners will need to show home ownership by showing a deed, mortgage statement, or comparable paperwork.

If an adoption cannot be completed at the time, the adopter can pay a $5 fee to hold the animal for 24 hours. If the adopter does not complete the process within 24 hours, the dog will become available the following day to the first adopters. PENDING ADOPTIONS WILL ONLY BE ALLOWED FOR APPLICATIONS THAT CAN NOT BE COMPLETED!

Watch for the first dogs to be announced on Thursday. Remember that additional dogs will become available over the next few months.

Please understand that since these dogs were seized from a local facility and are special needs dogs, we feel that additional adoption qualifications are warranted.

Thanks for your help!
