New Hope for Floyd County Cats

Posted by: | Posted on: August 9, 2011

Every year, shelters nationwide are filled with cats! The NAFC Animal Shelter is committed to placing every one of our adoptable cats in a home as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, many people still choose to take the “free cat or kitten” route, instead of adopting from a shelter. This puts more unaltered cats in our community, and contributes to the cat overpopulation problem!

We have the solution to the problem: we are dropping our adoption fee for cats 4lbs and up to ONLY $20! The adoption fee will still include FeLV/FIV testing, vaccinations, spaying or neutering, and a microchip. “Anyone can now afford to rescue a cat”, says Theresa Stilger, Animal Care Coordinator at the shelter, “and at that price it’s a steal! In addition, we offer low cost spaying and neutering services to the community, so everyone can alter their pet, or even a “neighborhood” cat.”

Spread the word! The best hope for Floyd County cats is if we all work together and save lives through adoption, and spaying or neutering!

Over two thousand animals a year come through the doors of  the New Albany Floyd County Animal Shelter seeking homes. Hundreds of pet owners are assisted annually in the spaying or  neutering of their pets by the shelter, the Floyd County Humane Society and the Floyd County Animal Rescue League.  Together, we can make a difference!
