Updates have been slow in coming, because we have been extremely busy. In the past two weeks, we have been involved with 2 seizures in our county, removing a large number of animals each time.

The first seizure occurred in late December, and 46 neglected animals were removed from a local property. This included 25 cats, 1 dead cat, 7 dogs, 12 goats, and 1 horse. Some of these have been placed in rescue, adopted, are available for adoption, or are still in the recovery process from their ordeal.

Tuesday, January 12th, we were asked by the Floyd County Health Department to remove and quarantine 41 dogs from Save That Dog Sanctuary. This was in response to a multiple bite situation that occurred when potential adopters went to view the dog pack. All of the dogs now have to be quarantined for 10 days. Some of these dogs will probably be made available for adoption, so watch the website for updates.

These large numbers of animals have put a huge strain on both our shelter and staff. We really need the support of the community as we get through these next few weeks. Be patient with us! If you’ve been considering adopting or rescuing a pet, now is the time. WE NEED ADOPTERS!
